To Our WSU Community and Stakeholders,
Amidst the domestic terror attack that targeted Asian American women in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, March 16th, our Student Centers, programs, and staff with Washington State University’s Student Equity/Multicultural Student Services area remains steadfast in our solidarity with Asian Pacific American communities. Over the past year, the Asian American Community has seen over 3,800 violent incidents that has been reported. In recognizing the history of violence targeting Asian Pacific Americans and the violence more recently targeting Asian American elders, our area is committed to continue our efforts in educating and learning more about Asian Pacific American communities and their rich history of contributions that have been made and continue to be made for our country as well as across the world.
While our equity work includes promoting the retention and leadership development for Asian Pacific Americans and other communities of color, the tragic deaths and related violence such as this past Tuesday galvanizes our work even more. Our team invites students to reach out to us for support as we try to reach out as well.
In love and solidarity.
